In the summer 2021, classical pianist Marino Formenti sets out in search of what is “real” in music, beyond all cultural imprints, in council houses in Graz.
What is music, culture, identity? The renowned solo pianist Marino Formenti is spending some weeks with a family with a migration background in the council estate Triester Straße 66. He will be living and making music with the family and other residents of the estate all month.
The project sets out to create a fertile interaction between biographical/relational processes and musical results. The aim is to identify common musical and cultural denominators, but also differences. The central question is: what is “real” music, beyond specific cultures?
In conclusion there will be a party in the court of Triester Straße 66 with various musical performances, organised in cooperation with the Triester district centre. During the final event there will also be a film that Marino Formenti will be making together with everyone involved.
