“Häfntheater” brings realities of life of prison inmates at the Graz-Karlau prison onto the stage.
Access to culture is a crucial precondition for mutual understanding for every individual.
In this context, art is often a vehicle for coming to terms with one’s own experiences and practising social behaviour in the group that is inherently important for the success of social life as a whole.

In the “Häfntheater” project, ten to fifteen inmates of the Graz-Karlau prison will engage in theatre education work to explore topics that affect the inmates’ individual realities of life and perform their findings on stage.
There will be a show of works at the prison in the middle of 2021. The whole project will be documented on film.
