The performance project confronts citizens with their digital shadows so as to raise their awareness of how to deal with personal data.
“Digital Shadows” aims to engage the critical minds of local residents with regard to (digital) surveillance. The project consists of a play in public space in the form of a digital paper-chase and digital/analogue information boards with links to recordings of interviews with victims of (digital) surveillance.
At the end of “Digital Shadows”, participants will be presented with their own data file, consisting of the digital metadata collected in the course of the paper-chase, in order to raise their awareness of how to deal with personal digital data. “Digital Shadows” will also lead to cooperations with experts and artists and educational facilities which may give rise to further projects.
